Glina Fun Lee-Wong, 78, of Austin, Texas passed away on February 26,2026 in the Arbour of Westminster Manor, the retirement community she had chosen to enjoy her carefree retirement lifestyle since Aug 2,2023.
Glina was born in a small county Wu Chuan, Guangdong, China in 1948. She was a smart girl to jump one class to Junior high school in1958. She came to New York City in 1969 to start a new life of going to school and working parttime. She graduated from City University of New York in Public Accounting in 1976.
She and her husband Kai Wong relocated to Austin in 1977. Glina passed the Certified Public Accountant Exam in Texas. She joined the Texas Education Agency as Auditor and later joined Elgin Independent School District as Business Manager in 1983.
She joined Motorola-HK as Auditor in 1989 for three years and enjoyed traveling Asia to conduct training for export control and other regulations.
She returned to Austin as Payroll Manager in Motorola-Austin in 1992.
In 1996, Glina started her Accounting Practice. She served and helped many small businesses for 24 years. She never failed any IRA audit for her clients. She made and helped many friends.
Glina enjoyed traveling. When she returned to Hong Kong to visit family, she always took a side trip to China. We had a two-person trip to the Yangtze River tour in 2000 before the Three Gorges Dam construction was completed. We made a 4-person tour in the scenic Jiuzhaigou and the Panda Research Center in 2006. Enjoyed traveling with friends to Central Europe, Spain and Portugal, Brazil and impressed by the 3 km wide Iquazu Falls. learn to Tangle in Argentina and sipped wine in Chile. We spent one week each in Berlin, London, Paris and Madrid to explore the local culture and food. We had just completed a 10-person tour of Turkey in Sept 2024.
Being Cantonese, she enjoyed taking a slow junk boat ride in Hong Kong to Lamma Island with friends or coworkers to eat flesh grouper while she was working in Hong Kong. She enjoyed eating fresh seafood in US, esp. live blue crab from Norfolk VA or Seabrook TX as well as roast duck or Peking duck from local restaurants in Austin.
We downsized and moved to Westminster Manor, a retirement community in Aug 2023 and made a lot of new friends and enjoyed all the activities such as line dancing and going out for different Chinese restaurants.
She enjoyed music and subscribed to Austin Symphony Orchestra and Austin Opera.
She survived by her husband of 53 years, Kai F Wong, Daughter Cynthia M Wong (Berkeley Ca) and her husband Andrew McDiramid and grandson Dashiell, her younger Brother Dr. Macao Lee (Jackson, Ms) and his three daughters Jessica, Megan and Lizzi. her younger sister Bing Lee (Hong Kong), niece Wong Wai-Yee (Birmingham, UK) and nephew Wong Wai-Fung (Hong Kong).
