Glenn's obituary

Glenn Edward Warnock, 91, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on September 14, 2023, from skin cancer.

Glenn was born on July 4th, 1932, to Emery and Leona (Beidleman) Warnock. He was predeceased by his wife, Wanda; his brothers, Orval and Dave; his parents, Emery and Leona; and his grandparents, Dora (Rimbey) and Leo Beidleman. He is survived by his daughter Renee Warnock of Modesto, CA; his son Rick Warnock and wife Glenda of Turlock, CA; his daughter Kimberly Annas of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren Monique (Tim), Stephanie (Henry), Kristyn, Milo, and Britney; four great-grandchildren; the ladies and gentlemen of the Hardee’s breakfast crew; and many, many friends.

Glenn was born in Denair, California, and was raised there by his grandparents Dora and Leo Beidleman. He attended Denair High School, where he served as Junior and Senior Class President, and played basketball, football, and baseball before graduating in 1952. After high school, Glenn served in the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. When he returned home, he began a lifelong career in sales.

In 1976, he married Wanda (Bowman) Annas, and the two remained devoted to one another until her passing in 2019. Throughout his life, Glenn lived in California, Illinois, Ohio, New York, and North Carolina, and was the proud father of three children, Renee, Rick, and Kimberly. He played fast-pitch softball for many years, and remained involved in youth sports for most of his adult life. He loved playing and watching sports, golfing, and gardening.

Glenn was a kind, funny, and generous man, who could not help but make friends everywhere he went. He liked to say his favorite song was Mac Davis’ “It’s Hard to be Humble.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church in Raleigh on Saturday, October 7 at 1 PM. Visitation will follow the service. Internment will be at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Hudson, NC, at a later date.

“Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble

When you're perfect in every way.

I can't wait to look in the mirror,

Cause I get better looking each day.

To know me is to love me,

I must be a hell of a man.

Oh Lord, it's hard to be humble,

But I'm doing the best that I can.”
