Glenda's obituary
Glenda Juanita “Mamaw” McCloud, née Culberson, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2013, at her home in Rossville, Georgia, surrounded by family. She was 73.
Glenda was born on November 18, 1939, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She lived a life shaped by strength, grit, and a sharp mind. She knew who she was, stood her ground, and didn’t waver easily. She also knew exactly when to be sassy, and her sense of humor could catch you off guard—in the best way. She had a way of making people laugh, whether through a perfectly timed comment, a look, or her blunt honesty.
She loved the simple, familiar things—sitting on the porch early in the morning with a cup of coffee, working through crossword puzzles or solitaire, baking, and talking to her sister on the phone almost every day. Those little routines were her comfort and her way of showing love.
Family meant everything to Glenda, and she treasured being “Mamaw.” She was especially proud of her role as a grandmother and shared a deep, special bond with her granddaughter. She taught her to think for herself, to be strong, and to face life head-on. Her guidance, honesty, and steady presence left a lasting mark.
Glenda faced many challenges throughout her life, but she never let them define her. She met hard times with determination and showed up when others needed her—always true to herself.
She passed away peacefully, holding her granddaughter’s hand, surrounded by close family. It was a fitting reflection of the closeness and devotion that mattered most to her.
Glenda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
