Although you went by many names (Gladys, Marty, Mom, Tata, Grandma, Titi, or Señora), and you were but one person to the rest of the world, you were the world to us. Born in 1948 to Lucrecia and Joaquin Gutierrez, you were a loving wife, a proud mom, an accomplished teacher, and the best Tata and Grandma to your grandchildren. From the beautiful islands of Puerto Rico, to the streets of Brooklyn, to the United States Army during the Vietnam War, to sunny California, your life was a journey. Whether you were traveling the world, embarking on your latest cruise, enjoying the relaxing beaches of Cambria, or cheering on your five grandchildren, your smile touched us all. Although your time with us has come to an end, you will live on in our hearts and in our minds as we continue down this road of life. You instilled in us the values of patience, dedication, and hard work. You taught us to follow our dreams, pushed us to never give up, and stressed the value of an education. Because of this we cannot mourn your loss but celebrate the joy you brought to our lives. It is time to honor all of your wonderful accomplishments. You were a precious gift from God taken from us too soon, but it is the memories of your strength, love, and beauty that will carry us through this difficult time.
