Gladys's obituary
Gladys Adisa Erude, 70, of Macomb, Illinois, passed away in Nairobi, Kenya on August 5th, 2021. Gladys was born in Tigoi, Western Province to Finora and Benson Kirigano. She attended Lugulu Girls High School, Jomo Kenyatta College, and Johnson County Community College (USA).
Gladys married Daniel Karafa Erude in 1972. She had 7 children; Victor, Silvester, Felix, Maxwell, Tony and Byron. Gladys was a teacher at Tigoi Girls High School before moving to VoK (now KBC) where she worked from 1975 to 2001 as a radio producer, and later became an accomplished entrepreneur from 2001 to 2008 before relocating to America. She was a devout Christian who championed women’s empowerment. Gladys also published two books and enjoyed participating in philanthropy.
Gladys is survived by her children (Victor Lidaywa Erude, Silvester Ndevera Erude, Felix Atonya Erude, Maxwell Kagoni Erude, Tony Kirigano Erude, Byron Manyala Erude and Lilian Kadenge), sister (Truphena Igunza), brother (Laban Kirigano), daughters-in-law (Lora Lidaywa, Cara Erude, Ivy Anderson, Martha Erude and Joy Erude), grandkids (Braxton Erude, Bryson Erude, Brixley Erude, Imani Erude, Nia Erude, Noah Erude, Leah Erude, Jonah Erude, Adah Erude, Ava Anderson, Calvin Erude, Jace Erude, Ariana Erude, Ariella Erude, and Lyron Erude), and was predeceased by husband (Daniel Karafa Erude), parents (Finora and Benson Kirigano), and sister (Selina Obwoyele).
Gladys will be laid to rest at her home in Nandi, Rift Valley at 10.00am on Saturday, August 14th. Memorial services will be held at 10.00am on Thursday, August 12th at PAG church (location announcement to follow).
