Giuseppina's obituary

Beloved Mother, Friend & Nonna

Giuseppina Troiani, 94, of Berwick PA died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 29, 2023.

Born March 19, 1928, in Balsorano, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Raffaele & Maria Santa Margani. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Giuseppe Troiani (1996). She is also preceded in death by 2 of her siblings, Domenico & Ulderico Margani. In Italy, she is survived by 3 siblings Giovanni Margani, Antonio Margani, and Rita Margani and many nieces and nephews.

Giuseppina and her husband Giuseppe, started their life together in the small village of Balsorano, L’Aguila, Abruzzo Italy. There they had their children and lived a simple life. Later in 1966, she immigrated to the US with her husband, Joe, and 4 children. In their mid-40’s they had the courage and grit to take their young family and start over in a new country without even knowing the language. They worked hard, built a life, a home and a garden and took great pleasure in watching their children flourish, and do the same. Together, they made a life that they, and we, could be proud of. In 1990, at age 62, Guiseppina showed her courage yet again to make a big life change. She became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and was a beloved member of the Mifflinville Congregation. She loved her God and her congregation and she never let the language barrier stop her from showing love or sharing her faith. In addition to this, she was an accomplished seamstress, cook, loved her flower garden and crocheting. She was always ready with hospitality and an espresso for friends. They loved the Italian-American community they found in Berwick and lived happily there for 30 years surrounded by their children, extended family and friends, until Giuseppe’s death in 1996. Giuseppina continued to live in the home that Joe built, for another 23 years. She loved her family fiercely. By far, her favorite role to play was that of “Nonna” to her many grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Giorgina Sorge and her husband Mario of Sunny Isles FL, Santa Grieco and her husband Michele of Sunny Isles FL, Antonio Troiani and his wife Kerri of Berwick PA, Gloria Troiani of Berwick PA and her partner, Adam Safalow of West Hartford CT.

In addition, she is survived by: 7 Grandchildren: Sandro Sorge (Christine) of Sugarloaf PA, Stefania Fedako (Mike) of York PA, Caterina Jaeger (Scot) of Hollywood FL, Francesco Grieco (Sarah) of Philadelphia PA, Andrea Evensen (Dennis) of Berwick PA , Joseph Troiani (Krista) of Nescopeck PAJ & Julia Troiani of Berwick PA. In addition to these she is survived by 10 Great-grandchildren: Mitchell & Michael Jaeger; Enzo Fedako; Gabriel & Grant Evensen; Gemma, Nadia, Bianca, Antonio & Cristiano Troiani.

Family will greet friends at Hinckley Funeral Home, 1024 N Market St Berwick PA. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 10:00 am followed by Memorial Service at 11:00. Interment at Elan Memorial Park, 5595 Old Berwick Road Bloomsburg PA
