Giovanna's obituary
In Loving Memory of Giovanna “Jill” Novella Johnson
Giovanna was born on September 28th, 1966 in Buffalo NY to Donald H. Johnson and Louise
Lightsey Johnson. She returned to her heavenly home on October 8th, 2025 in DeLand FL. With
hearts full of sorrow and overflowing with gratitude, we celebrate the radiant life of Giovanna
Novella Johnson.
Giovanna was the youngest of ten siblings, the baby girl of the family. She lives on in each of
her beloved daughters: Alina Novella Marie LaBollita and Cecelia Ava Louise LaBollita. She was
preceded in death by both parents; her sisters Tanya Davis, Cecelia Virginia Johnson, Judith
Ann Johnson, and Ramona Ava Johnson; her brothers Holiday G. Johnson and Donald H.
Johnson Jr. Four of her siblings survive her: Leonard H. Johnson, Nadine Johnson, Paul
Johnson and Vanessa Johnson- Anderson and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was the heartbeat of every room she entered: outgoing, welcoming, and full of life, with a
bright smile that could melt the hardest days. Whether that be cracking a joke, dancing to her
favorite songs, or showing up with open arms. She was always the life of the party and the soul
of compassion. She had the ability to guide and educate without offending you. A truly
encouraging motivational speaker that loved everyone as they are. She would inspire those
around her by saying “shoot for the moon and take a few stars on the way”
. She was an
entrepreneur, a true visionary of the possibilities that life can offer. Her mind for expansion was
much larger than this world could contain. She had a true passion for family and it showed in
everything she did for others.
Her sense of humor was legendary - comical in the best ways, never missing a chance to
lighten the mood or lift someone’s spirit. Her laugh was contagious and could be heard from
miles away. And oh, was she stylish. Always dressed to impress, she carried herself with grace
and flair; a reflection of the joy she found in life. To know Giovanna was to be welcomed, uplifted
and reminded that joy is a choice and faith is a gift.
She was a woman of deep faith, a believer in Jesus not just in word but in action. Her love for
Christ was evident in her generosity, her kindness and her willingness to help in any way she
could. Whether that be comforting a friend, offering advice, or praying over her daughters, she
lived her faith boldly and beautifully.
Her final word “Jesus” was not just a whisper, but a declaration of the faith that carried her
through every season of life. She leaves behind a legacy rooted in trust, joy and unwavering
belief in the goodness of God. And her memory? It lives on in every smile, every laugh and every act of kindness inspired by her life.
