Ginger's obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ginger Coplan, who ascended to heaven on December 29, 2024. Born on July 6, 1950, Ginger was a beacon of light and creativity throughout her life, leaving an indelible mark on the world and the people around her.

Ginger is survived by her two daughters, Christina Edwards and Anna Coplan, who are a testament to her nurturing spirit. She was also a loving mother-in-law to Merlin Edwards II, who shared in her family’s bond of love and unity. Ginger was a proud and devoted grandmother to her four grandsons, Merlin III, Nikko, Isaac, and Odin, and her granddaughter, Meilyn. Her love extended even further to her three great-grandchildren, Makena, Avery, and Kaya. She is also survived by her two sisters, Jill Baker and Julie McCoy, and her three brothers, Joe McCoy, Kevin McCoy, and Tim Burns. Ginger was a cherished member of a large and loving extended family, all of whom adored her deeply.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby McCoy and Jack Coons, as well as two of her brothers, Pat Coons and Mike Coons.

Ginger had a rare and magical ability to make everyone she met feel special and loved. Her warmth, kindness, and radiant personality drew people to her, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. She was fiercely protective of her family, standing as their unwavering support and strength. Known as a woman who could do anything, her boundless creativity and determination allowed her to excel in every aspect of her life. A builder at heart, she poured her love into fashion, desserts, and creating beautiful spaces, illuminating the world around her with her touch.

She lived by the philosophy of embracing life without limits, constantly learning, and never hesitating to get up and get things done. Her greatest accomplishment, she would say, was her family, her children. Her legacy will always be imbued in everything she touched—for she had the magical ability to make everything better.

In remembrance of a truly once-in-a-lifetime woman, a Celebration of Life for Ginger will be conducted on January 12, 2025, at 4:00 PM at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 2727 College Ave, Berkeley, CA. We are fortunate for her presence in our lives and will carry forward her luminosity and zeal for life.

In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised to assist with final arrangements at https://everloved.com/life-of…. We invite all who knew Ginger and experienced her warmth to contribute as a testament to her unforgettable spirit.

Ginger Coplan was a shining star in our lives. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue through the lessons she shared, the love she gave, and the beautiful spaces she created.
