Gina's obituary

Gina Patricia Thomas, 59, of Cheshire, CT passed away on September 4th, 2021 following a brief illness.

Gina was born on November 10th, 1961 to Lawrence and Joanne Taylor in New York, NY. However, Gina was reared by the late Emma DeTorres (2007) and resided in the Bronx with her late sister, Terri Taylor (2009) through adulthood. After graduating from High School, she went on to study business management and later obtained her masters degree. Gina was a novice author and recently wrote and published two books, “In Chains, But Free” and “Born Different.”

After graduation, Gina landed her first job as a Placement Counselor for FEGS and worked her way up the ladder for over 20 years. Gina held several positions after leaving FEGS, including working with the Prison Ministry at Rikers Island and many were blessed by Gina’s presence and obedience to the Holy Spirit. She stood on a passage of scripture in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 …“that all men be saved and come to a knowledge of truth.”

Gina met the love of her life, the late Edward Thomas (2018), at an early age in New York. They immediately hit it off and married only 5 years later. The two had their first child, Elijah in 1998. Their second child, Gevonna was born in 2000, their third child Isaiah was born in 2003, and their last child Saul was born in 2005.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Gina also loved working in her garden, cooking (she founded Divine Goodness and Aunt Millie’s Organic Applesauce), staying actively involved in ministry and holding various volunteer roles at Purple Heart Ministries International. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.

Gina is survived by her children, Elijah (Davielys), Gevonna, Isaiah and Saul, and her grandchildren, Isabella and Cataleya. She is also survived by her close cousin/sister, Millie Graves, her pastors Apostle Stan and Dr. Vivian Carroll and a host of close relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing a monetary gift to help support the children.
