Gina Marie (Ballaro) Read, 58, of Milford, Connecticut, passed away on June 8, 2025, in Bridgeport, CT after a long illness.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on June 26, 1966, Gina was raised in Milford and Orange, CT and spent much of her life in Milford, CT.

She had a great sense of humor and an ability to make people laugh. Gina had a deep love for animals—her home was always shared with beloved dogs and several cherished cats. She had a creative soul and a passion for crafts, often spending time making beautiful things by hand.

Gina also liked music and attending concerts. Her fascination with moose led her on special trips to Jackman, Maine, where she delighted in spotting them in the wild.

She is survived by her spouse, Craig Read; her daughter, Emma Nowlin; and her son, James Nowlin. Gina also leaves behind her mother, Marion Ballaro; her brother, William Ballaro; her sister, Lorri Lea​.

She was predeceased by her father, Vito Ballaro.

A memorial service to honor Gina’s life will be held at a later date.

Gina will be remembered for her laughter, her love for animals and nature, her artistic creativity and the warmth she brought to everyone lucky enough to know her.
