Looking through all the photos shared is so heartwarming. It is apparent that Gigi meant a lot to a lot of people. Adina and I were lucky to be matched with Gigi in a mastermind group during the last few years, which became so much more. We were the final three of many members, and our meeting became a place to unite and support each other through various aspects of life. I will always admire Gigi’s dedication, her wit, her love for animals, and her determination to always do the right thing, as well as her no-nonsense attitude towards life. When she cracked a smile, you knew it was genuine. We have only had one meeting so far without her, and her absence is palpable. My condolences to her family and all who loved her; she will be dearly missed.  Michelle Zumwalt, Victorville, California
How lucky were we to have each other and a great lagoon to pass away the early part of the pandemic.  We listened to music, drank wine.  We were of very like minds and I miss that so much.  Jay/Woodlake, Portland, Ore

DEBORAH RUSSELL

Gigi and I were friends for 55 years. We first met when I started working at Cambridge Computer Associates (CCA) after college in the early days of the computer age. Gigi, in her early 20s, was already the mainstay of the company.

Gigi's son Mischa and my daughter Sarah were born six weeks apart. Gigi and I were quite a sight meeting with clients together in the latter months of our pregnancies. Mischa and Sarah were best friends at Children’s Village Daycare near our office, and Gigi and I had such fun watching them and their siblings grow. We worked together for 35 years, ate countless meals together, shared feminist meetings and anti-war marches during those years of protests, and grieved together over the loss of dear friends.

After Gigi moved to Portland, we stayed in touch by phone and email, sharing life experiences, both happy and sad – and every time we talked or read a message, it felt like old times. I missed having Gigi close in Boston, but I was happy that she loved her life in Portland and was able to spend those years living near Mischa and Whitney.

Gigi was smart, energetic, creative, principled, and so much fun. I will always miss her, but I'll also feel lucky that we shared a long friendship and that I have so many wonderful memories of spending time with her.

With much love and sympathy to Gigi’s dear family,

Debby Russell

Gigi's trip back to Boston from Portland - with Debby Russell

I was extremely sorry to hear of Gigi's death.   Her energy and spirit made her seem immortal.  We lost touch after she moved to Portland, but I have fond memories of working with her at Cambridge Computer Associates from 1973 to 1975, where we'd do the crossword puzzle together at lunch.  After I'd left CCA, she was part of a group I'd meet with for lunch and, on one occasion, for a trip to Cape Cod to look for a mountain lion--an expedition that (fortunately) failed.  I'll never forget her steadfast kindness to our friend Phil in his final illness.

She was an extraordinary person, and I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I am saddened to see Gigi's obit in the Globe.  CCA was, to say the least, an unusable and fun environment.  More than 40 years ago, Gigi, Debbie, Herb and I joined in a "partnership" to purchase a condo in Waterville Valley w/ an 18% and 5pt mortgage. Over the years I became the sole owner and my  family has enjoyed many years in WV.  This would not have happened if Gigi wasn't involved and we are very thankful for her being a "partner."

I only met Gigi very recently but deeply valued the friendship we had. She was a very kind and hardworking individual whom I had the honor of assisting at work. Gigi had an excellent sense of humor and contagious laugh. Many aums and condolences to her loved ones 🤍
Sending love to Whitney and Mischa during this difficult time. Gigi will be missed. ❤️

I always enjoyed sharing some good wine with Gigi! — with Sandra Hetzel and Felicity

My heart goes out to Gigi’s family. Gigi was my neighbor and my friend and loved by so many of us here. We gathered most days at 4 by the pool for Happy Hour with a group of fellow neighbors. She was fierce and funny and smart and oh how she loved her dog Wicket. I miss you so much Gigi.

Gigi was unforgettable—we worked together for many years in Cambridge. I loved her sly sense of humor and her no-BS attitude. She helped clear my house of bad energy after a breakup and I still follow her instructions for Feng Shui in my house. I think of her every time I look at one of the many prisms hanging in my windows. Her spirit lives on. My sincere condolences to Gigi’s family and friends.
My deepest sympathies go out to Gigi's family during this difficult time. I first met Gigi several years ago when we became part of a mastermind group. Gigi, Michelle, and I formed a close bond and were the last three holdouts, continuing to meet regularly, with our last meeting the Thursday before she passed away. In that meeting, Gigi exuded positivity and joy. Her spirits were high as she had regained mobility following her surgery, was in the process of training her successor at work, and eagerly anticipating her retirement. Above all, she found great joy in the company of her cherished dog, Wicket. It warms my heart to remember her smiling during our last conversation together. I raise a toast in Gigi's honor, envisioning her surrounded by the art she adored, savoring exquisite food and the finest wine for all eternity. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
