Gertrude Brenda Washington, daughter of the late Mamie Israel Pierce and Laurence A. Pierce was born on February 13, 1939 in Amityville, N.Y. God called her home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
She was named after her aunt, Gertrude Matthews, but everyone called her “Trudy.” Regrettably, her mother died in December 1939. Trudy was raised by her maternal grandmother, the late Nannie Eubanks. Trudy was the youngest daughter of five children. Her siblings Louise, Dorothy, …
