Gerry Sue Lopus, born on August 19, 1948, in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at the age of 77.

Gerry moved to Cotati, California, as an infant and later married Joseph Lopus in 1967. Together, they built a loving family, and a life filled with cherished memories. In 1975, they welcomed their son, Grant Lopus, into the world. The family moved to Fall River Mills, California, in 1978, where Gerry worked as a bookkeeper for their family-owned gas station and auto repair shop, Meeker’s Service. She later continued her bookkeeping career at Napa Auto Parts.

In 2000, Gerry and Joseph relocated to Cottonwood, California. Gerry had a deep love for lighthouses, the beach, and spending time with her family, including her many dogs throughout the years.

Gerry is survived by her devoted spouse of 58 years, Joseph Lopus; her son, Grant Lopus; her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Duval Lopus; and her granddaughter, Alyssa Duval. She is also survived by her sister, Julie Nelson, and her brother, Arnold Souza.

Gerry was preceded in death by her siblings, Peggy Garrison, Nancy Uzar, Carol Sweeney, Don Gaither, and John Souza; her mother, Lucille Souza; and her stepfather, Robert Souza.

Gerry's warmth, kindness, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

A celebration of life will be held at the Cottonwood Community Center, located at 20595 Gas Point Road, Cottonwood, CA 96022, in the North Hall, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 2pm.
