Preuter, Gerhard Henry (Gerry)

October 26, 1939 to February 15, 2025

Gerhard (Gerry) Preuter passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on February 15, 2025 at the age of 85.

Gerry was born in Olst, Holland to parents Gerhard and Henrica Preuter. They moved to Canada on May 6, 1951 when Gerry was 11 years old and he became a Canadian Citizen on September 24, 1957.

Gerry spent most of his career at Canadian Freightways, retiring at the age of 62. Soon after retiring he started working at the Country Hills Golf Course in Calgary where he was a course marshall and starter. He enjoyed visiting with the regular members and meeting new people.

Gerry was actively involved in the community. He coached his kids in both Hockey and Ringette and spent many years as a Ringette Referee. When not at the ice rink, you could find Gerry doing what he truly loved, hitting the links!

Gerry is survived by his wife Dianne Preuter, is son Sean (Heather) Preuter and his daughter Tricia (Scott) Crews. He is also survived by his grandchildren Alex Lawrence, Amy Preuter, and Kyle Crews. He is preceded in death by his brother Marinus Preuter and his sister Hendrikje Wind.

A private celebration of Gerry’s life will be held with his closet friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
