Gerard's obituary
Gerard Robert Muffly, 60, of Greenbank, Washington, passed away on July 14th, 2023.
Gerard was born on July 12th, 1963, in San Diego, California. He attended school in Entiat from 1st through 9th grade and then moved to Wenatchee where he graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1981. Gerard earned an Associate Degree in Electronics Engineering in 1986 at Everett Community College, as well as several advanced certifications including amateur radio license, FCC license, and radar endorsement.
Gerard had a 35-year career as an Aircraft Test Technician at Boeing. He was a skilled electrical engineer and enjoyed using his electronic and avionics background to troubleshoot and perform functional tests of aircrafts. Gerard was involved with the 747 and 777 Final Assembly, as well as the 777 and 737 Flight Lines. In addition to working on local planes, he achieved his career goal of joining the mobile Airforce on Ground (AOG) Crew at Boeing. As a member of AOG, he was able to travel the world using his service engineering skills to troubleshoot planes across the globe. Gerard retired from Boeing in 2021.
Gerard was married to Cathy Albin Muffly from 1989 to 2007. Together they had two children, Andrea M. Muffly and Alanna S. Muffly.
Gerard was an avid outdoor adventurist. He completed many impressive accomplishments in mountaineering, backpacking, cycling and kayaking. He section hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Canada to Mexico, bicycled the entire Transamerica Trail, hiked the El Camino Trail in Spain, and countless other adventures with the One Step at a Time (OSAT) mountaineering group.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2pm Greenbank Farm, on Whidbey Island where Gerard retired. Please be sure to subscribe to this website, share with anyone who may want to attend, and please RSVP to the celebration of life event to receive the details as they are posted.
