I have to thank Dr Clum for instigating my path into teaching. After my mom passed, I was lost and he reached out to me in Hawaii to come back to Lifewest to teach after 13 years in practice. Best decision ever. Now 19 years in teaching and practicing in New Zealand, my life is very fulfilled as a chiropractor giving back to the profession, learning and growing as a subluxation focused chiropractor and as a practitioner. Thank you for recommending me to NZ. I’ll never forget how you helped me regroup!!!

There are so many great memories of Dr Clum. Such a blessing to have been in school while he was at the helm.

One of my favorite memories was working with him on the first ever WCCS regional conference, where we hosted nearly every chiro school in the Americas. It was amazing to have his support and guidance and he was always the best speaker.

I can’t thank Dr Clum and his family enough for all that they have done for me and my family. Love and Aloha 🫶🏽

Every time I receive the reminder email form everloved.com and Lauren's beautiful tribute to Gerry, I am filled with both joy and sadness....joy to have had so many years of friendship, mentorship, and interaction with Gerry and sadness, because I can't just pick up the telephone and ask his advice.  When I am at a perplexing decision, I pause at times and think to myself, what would Dr. Gerry Clum do?  What advice would he give me in that compassion filled response laced always with a touch of humor.  I am thankful for the blessings of knowing Gerry Clum and spending time with him over the years on projects and simply in discussion.  A visionary, scholar, and gentleman for sure.

Dr. Clum

I would like to address the Clum family and start by saying Thank You! Thank you for sharing your precious time with your father, so that he could establish Life West Chiropractic as the great institution that it stands to be today. His tireless dedication to fight and get us accredited and build a flawless team of administrators and faculty is what has led to countless chiropractors being properly equipped and trained to be the skilled doctors they are today.

His unique gift to treat and train us as his own children during our time of education, graduation, and building our own practices is something we will hold deeply in our hearts. He was able to show us how to have compassion and empathy as well as understanding the science behind how and why we now practice the way we do.

The product at life west that he produced and nurtured has resulted in excellent patient care with life changing results for millions of chiropractic patients worldwide. His desire to give chiropractic patients more life to live is being accomplished daily, through all of us chiropractors who have been fortunate to learn from him. The Ripple effect of his leadership has also permanently affected chiropractic educators, as many of the faculty and alumni continue to contribute to the education of chiropractors.

He is a humble giant among men that will live on in the hearts and soul of us all. To those who knew him as president or friend I stand with you saying he will be forever loved and greatly missed.

Robert O. Katona, DC

I'm so sad that you've left us. You were and will always be an inspiration to me to champion chiropractic and leave it in a better place than when I found it. I stand on your shoulders... thank you for being one of the great faces and stands for our profession. Rest in Peace Dr Clum
What a Man!  May we all ascribe to be as thoughtful, giving and supportive of each other and our Profession.  I was part of the "Bulge" when LCCW was becoming accredited,  and we all learned a lot during those days!  Dr. Clum, "Gerry" as we knew him, was always an exemplary example of total Truth, Kindness and Understanding.  So sorry to hear of his passing.  My heart reaches out to close friends and family with deepest Condolences.

Dear Clum Family,

My heart is with you as you celebrate the life of a man who touched so many lives and devoted himself selflessly to chiropractic. You were so kind and generous to share him with us. Gerry had that rare and unique ability to connect with ANYONE and make them feel like they were at the center if the universe for that moment. He was a statesman rather than a politician because he served the principles rather than his ego.

I feel truly blessed to have had Dr. Clum at the helm during my years at Life West. I shall always treasure our chats and consider myself as blessed to have known him and observed his way of being in the world.

I am so sorry for your loss and hope that the void created by Gerry's transition to total spirit can be filled with the love and passion he contributed to the works coming home to celebrate his legacy.

He was truly one of the greats.

My deepest condolences to each of you,

Amy Burke, D.C. LCCW '99

To the Clum Family and the Life-West Community, I wish to express my sincere condolences. As a graduate of Life-West while Dr. Clum was president, I can say that he was not only a pioneer, but, was an inspiration to countless students and chiropractors throughout the world. He was the embodiment of the intersection of science and philosophy and blazed a trail so that we, who graduated from Life-West could treat our patients with love, professionalism and skill. May the great Gerry Clum rest in peace as we his chiropractic children continue his work.

Dr. Gerry Clum was an amazing person in so many ways – not only brilliantly intelligent but also so very kind and caring. He had such a broad depth of understanding, and what a great sense of humor and quick wit.

Dr. Clum made so many powerful, positive, and important contributions in my life and the lives of countless others. He was a world-class chiropractic leader and communicator, great teacher, loyal friend, and devoted family man.

He was a Giant of a person, with a whole lot of Soul. I feel such a depth of love and appreciation for Gerry Clum, my colleague, teacher, mentor, and friend. He will be greatly missed, especially by those of us fortunate enough to know him.

My deepest condolences to Cathy, Don, Cassie, Lauren, and the rest of the family.

With respect and admiration, appreciation and love,

Victoria Moore DC, MA

From Dr. Yael Weiss, DC:

Dear Cathy, Cassie, Don, Lauren and all the Clum family,My heart goes out to you at this difficult time of grief. Please accept my sincerest condolences for you all.Dr. Gerry Clum was more than the president of LIFE West for me as a student. He was a role model, a leader and also a friend.I had the honor of working closely together with him as I was the president of the Student ICA on campus.I will always cherish the friendship that had developed over the years, as I opened my practice, raised a family, and was elected the president of the Israeli Chiropractic Association. His contribution to the Chiropractic profession was exceptional, and though he was always busy with multiple projects, he always had the time to keep in touch, and give his personal advice.Five years ago my kids, who wished to surprise me, contacted Gerry, and he sent them a very warm blessing for my 50th birthday.Gerry, the most special Mench, Chiropractor, educator, great leader and visionary, will be missed by so many people, but his legacy will keep on forever.Gerry dedicated his life to Life West and the Chiropractic profession, but the love for his family always came first.Sending my most heartfelt sympathy to you all.

Love,Dr. Yael Weiss, DCLIFE West 1993 Graduate

Thanks Dr. Gerry for taking me out for lunch after Dr. Gerry Mattia from New Jersey & Orlando, Florida, had introduced me to you as I entered Life West in Hayward back in 1991 🙏🌹❤️
When the college and clinic on Main Street in Hayward hosted Halloween for the city, Kendra Holloway and I cooked up one of many fright rooms. Kendra sat under a table covered with a black cloth in a small dark room with a black light. A hole in the table top allowed her to stick her goulish and bloody head up and into a plastic 5 gallon water jug to look like a cut off head in a bottle. I stood alongside with my white bloody surgeons  uniform and knife. As kids entered the room to get a piece of candy, Kendra would subtly move her eyes or lips, just enough that it could be jarringly scarey when noticed. When Gerry came in he looked at me with a sly grin shaking his head and said, "Casey, you are sick!" George Casey, Gerrys friend and co-worker.
