Personal note from Gerry's daughter, Lauren

I'm so very proud of my dad's professional accomplishments - they set the stage for me to follow in his footsteps and become a chiropractor myself. I love having that in common with my dad, and while it took me quite awhile to get used to, I'm so very proud to be called Dr. Clum, just like him.
I'm so very proud of the example he set in life to be a good human being - I'd like to think that I've followed in his footsteps in that way, too. He was such a kind, ethical, diplomatic man, and clearly well loved.
And with all of that, which is A LOT, I think I'm *most* proud of him as a grandfather to my daughter, Kaiya. She absolutely adored him, and their connection was so apparent, so sweet, so genuine. He saw her as whole and perfect, not as an imperfect child with a diagnosis, and he told her everyday how brilliant, capable, loving and kind she was. He gave me permission to also see her as whole and perfect, and gave me the strength and love to embrace the life and lessons she offers.
I firmly believe that upon death, one is met with unconditional love and complete understanding of the mosaic of their lives, understanding how each and every piece, big and little, is interconnected. And I find immense peace in knowing that my brilliant father, the man that impacted me, Kaiya and so many during his time in *this* realm, now literally knows everything. And I have no doubt that he is still with Kaiya and me as we continue this journey together, and I couldn't be more grateful for that.

A NOTE from Gerry's daughter, Cassie:
For me, even though my dad was a big, important individual, he appreciated the little things in life, the little moments. I may not have gotten a fancy college degree, and he celebrated what was important to ME; he celebrated my desire for independence, and was so proud that I've worked at the college for so many years - 27 this year! He helped me find MY strength, what that looked like for me, because I really wasn't all that strong at the start. I loved hearing him speak about what life was like when I was born, how chiropractic saved my life, and I'm so proud that my story helped to inspire others to find their paths in chiropractic, to find their passion to serve. His physical presence may be gone, but his spirit lives on with me, and through all of the stories that he shared, that will be shared again and again and again.

Obituary

Gerard William Clum passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

You don't have to look far to find an impressive list of Gerry's professional accomplishments, as he was a brilliant leader and advocate for the chiropractic profession for over 50 years. That said, amid the well-deserved accolades, he was also a son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, dad and grandfather, and he filled those roles arguably even better.
