Gerald's obituary
Gerald (Jerry) Tidwell was born on April 9, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away peacefully, on February 24, 2024, at home in Crowley, Texas.
Jerry graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 1963. After high school, he worked briefly for the Leonard’ Brother’s Department Store. Jerry went on to work for the Texas Electric Service Company (which later became TXU), where he would remain until his retirement in 1999.
Jerry met the love of his life, Deborah, early in 1964. They would wed soon after on October 31, 1964 and would remain married until his death, shortly before celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Jerry was drafted by the U. S. Army in October of 1966 and he proudly served his country until his discharge in October of 1968.
Upon his retirement, Jerry spent his time traveling with his bride of 59 years,spending time with his sons and their wives, and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren, and then, great grand children. He loved attending their extra curricular activities, as well as the many summers spent taking the grandchildren on “grandparent vacations”. Spending time with family was the joy of Jerry’s life.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Deborah Adcock Tidwell, their two sons, their oldest, Chisom Tidwell and his wife, Missy, their daughters Ashlee Harold, her husband Aaron, and sons, Trent and Wyatt, Mandee Hacker and her husband Daniel, and their son Owen, Lacy Tidwell and her partner Sarah Gwinner, and Draven Johnson, their younger son, Shawn Tidwell and his wife, Melissa, and their two sons Jack and Graham. Jerry’s brother, Mike Tidwell, as well as numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Tidwell and M. O. and Evelyn Parr, his in-laws, Oscar and Loraine Adcock, as well as his brother Jack Tidwell, sister-in-law, Sherry Tidwell, brother-in-law, Mike Adcock and sister-in-law, Jimmie Gill.
There will be a family memorial at DFW National Cemetery on Friday, March 29, at 11:15 A.M., with a Visitation to follow at the home of Chisom and Missy Tidwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Foundation.
