Jerry's obituary
In Loving Memory of Gerald "Jerry" Rizer
Gerald “Jerry” Rizer, age 75, of Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was born in Washington, DC, on April 1, 1948, to Betty Rizer (Righter) and Ralph Rizer. Jerry dedicated many years of his life to Flippo Construction, where he served as a devoted Project Manager until his retirement in 2006.
Jerry's zest for life extended beyond his professional pursuits. He found solace in the simple pleasures of golfing, tending to his yard, and tinkering with his cars. Yet, his greatest joy came from the time spent with his beloved family. He cherished every moment shared with his wife, Meda Rizer, his children Steven Rizer and Catherine (Andrew) Durstewitz, and his grandchildren Andres and Amelia. Jerry is also survived by his three sisters: Linda Bejarano, Wanda (Joe) Osburn, and Nancy (Tony) Long.
An active member of Surfside Presbyterian Church, Jerry exemplified the values of compassion and service. His commitment to volunteering in the community touched countless lives and left an enduring legacy of kindness.
In honor of Jerry's memory, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the SonRise Preschool Scholarship Fund (Surfside Presbyterian Church) in Jerry’s name. May his spirit of generosity continue to inspire others as it did during his lifetime.
