Gerry's obituary

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gerald "Gerry" Pannaralla on August 9, 2023. Born in 1945, Gerry lived a full and enriched life, characterized by kindness, humor, and love.

Gerry was a loyal and loving patriarch, survived by his four children: Eileen Akroush, Amy Pannaralla, Mark Pannaralla, and Erin Reed. In his later years, Gerry found great joy in his role as a doting grandfather to Caden Reed,  Meghan Reed, Branden Reed, Bridget Stroner, Clare Stroner, and Brendan Stroner, and John Akroush. Finally he leaves behind his loving siblings Ken Pannaralla, Teresina Peloso, Rocco Pannaralla, Pam Pannaralla, Eugene Pannaralla, Jill Spondzer, Cathy Crenshaw, and Geoff Pannaralla

Gerry's legacy also extends to his sons-in-law Eric Stroner, Bryan Reed, and Joseph Akroush, as well as his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Pannaralla.

Education was a key facet of Gerry's life, reflecting his keen intellect and love for knowledge. He graduated from elementary school in 1959 and proudly graduated high school from De La Salle Institute located on South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois in 1963. His courage and sense of duty were exemplified when he served in the Vietnam Conflict in 1969.

Off the battlefield, Gerry was known for his light-hearted personality and his love for enjoyment and relaxation. He was an ardent follower of The Big Bang Theory and enthusiastically rooted for The Chicago White Sox and NASCAR. Gerry also embraced the spirit of service and community, dedicating his time to working with the Schererville VIPS.

The words kind, funny, and loving were often used to describe Gerry. His legacy extends far beyond his personal accomplishments and is etched in the laughter, memories, and love shared with his beloved family and friends.

So, as we bid farewell to Gerry, we do not say goodbye but rather, see you later. His spirit remains with us, in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. Rest in peace, Gerry. You will always be remembered.
