Gerald G. Smith, 81, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in Maryville, Tennessee. A devoted man of faith and a cherished presence in the lives of many, Gerald’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and unwavering Christian devotion.
Born on November 5, 1943, Gerald lived a life rooted in spiritual strength and compassion. His deep love for gospel music and singing was not only a personal joy but also a reflection of his enduring faith. Whether lifting his voice in song or sharing words of encouragement, Gerald brought comfort and inspiration to those around him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Maudie Smith; daughters Linda Tucker and Sheila Sellers; and his honorary son James Solman. Gerald’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Nicole Troglin, Larry Salyer, Heather Brewer, Samantha Estes, Tobby Smith, Samson Smith, Jeremy Smith, Jayson Barr, Scott Barr, Nicholas Barr, Justin Sellers, Kenneth Sellers, and Jacklyn Stanton along with their spouses as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers Kenneth and Eugene; sister Ann; and many extended and honorary family members who were touched by his kindness.
Gerald now joins in eternal rest his beloved son Gerald Smith Jr., daughter Sarah Smith; parents Lucy and Jack Horner and Kennard Smith; brothers Lamont, Paul, Thomas, and Steve; and sister Vanessa.
A celebration of Gerald’s life will be held at Pearson’s Spring Park in Maryville, Tennessee on May 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. All who knew him are welcome to gather in remembrance of a man whose heart reflected the love of Christ.
May the memory of Gerald G. Smith bring peace to all who were blessed to know him. His song may have ended here on earth but it echoes forever in heaven.
