Gerald "Jerry" Burgess, January 1, 1942 - July 15, 2025

Gerald Burgess, affectionately known as Jerry to his family and friends, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 15, 2025, in the Bronx, New York. He was 83 years old.

Born on New Year's Day in 1942, Jerry lived a life rich in creativity and compassion. He found joy in the arts-whether listening to music, sketching and painting, or attending plays, concerts, and art shows. His appreciation for beauty and expression was matched only by his deep love for his family.

Jerry is survived by his three daughters, Aisha, Kadija, and Kemi; six grandchildren, his two beloved sisters and his brother; and a host of extended family members and close friends. His warmth, humor, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him. 

He will be remembered not only for his artistic soul but for the unwavering love he gave to those around him. Jerry's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be truly missed.
