George's obituary

George Michael Van Dusen 77, 8-12-42 - 11-21-19
With his friend by his side he passed peacefully away at his home in Kennewick, WA.
Mike as he was known by his friends was born in Marshfield, OR. where he spent his childhood years. He attended North Salem High School and graduated in 1961. He continued his education at Salem Tech. and Vocational Community College where he received his Associates of Arts Degree in Drafting and Technical Illustration. In 1962 Mike served in the U.S. Army until 1965 when he was honorably discharged. Mike worked for Boeing for 18 years where he met the love of his life and soul mate Cynthia Whitthoff. In 1977 they married . He and Cynthia started 'The Shopper' an advertising publication in 1985 and both soon quit Boeing to work on the paper full time. Cynthia proceeded Mike in death in 1987. In 1996 Mike started his mobile car detailing business. In 2012 Mike sold the business and his home in Kent, WA. and moved to Kennewick, WA. to live and help his long time friend.
Mike loved animals and people, he always had a kind word for anyone having a bad day. His hobbies were working for SOVRAN (Society of Vintage Racing ENthusasts), rock and mineral collecting and gardening.
A memorial service will be held for Mike in the Spring, where is his laid to rest at the National Cemetary in Kent , WA.
