George's obituary

George K. Sweezey “Tinker”

December 6, 1953 – July 13, 2025

George, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was raised in Dousman, later lived in Waukesha, and eventually made his forever home in New Port Richey, Florida.

He was the son of the late George B. & Ruth M. Sweezey of New Port Richey, FL. He is survived by his loving sons, George Sweezey Jr. (Abbey) of Waukesha, WI and Joe Sweezey (Nicky) of Jefferson, WI, and his cherished grandchildren Chloe Grace, Fiona Leigh, Violet Jolene, and George Crosby.

George is further survived by his siblings: Sandy Bauman (Guy) of Waukesha, WI, Janet Smith(Sweezey) of Hartland, WI, Shawn Sweezey (Randi) of Adams, WI, Glenn Sweezey (Betsy) of Prairie Du Chien, WI and Gary Sweezey of Waukesha, WI.

He found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends, especially cheering on his grandkids at their sporting events and lending a hand to his sons with home improvement projects, where his quick wit and big heart were always on display. He had a lifelong passion for classic cars, and nothing made him happier than rolling up his sleeves and bringing them back to life.

He spent his career working in a metal fabrication shop in Dousman before moving on to be a self-employed handyman. He had a passion for working with his hands, building things from scratch, and “tinkering” with whatever project caught his attention. Whether it was fixing something around the house or crafting something new, he brought care and creativity to all he did.

He was a steady presence in the lives of those around him, always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or simply enjoy time with those he loved. His spirit will live on in the stories we share, the values he instilled, and the love he gave so freely. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, at the Dousman Ottawa Lions Club, 235 N Main St, Dousman, WI 53118, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring and remembering his life.
