George's obituary

Our heartbroken family has lost an amazing husband, father, grandad and uncle. George Robb was an incredible man who loved his family more than life - he was caring, supportive, kind, intelligent and athletic. He loved his wife Donna with all his heart, writing beautiful notes and poetry to her throughout their 60+ years of marriage. George excelled at many sports and games, including bridge, crib, backgammon, golf, basketball, badminton, soccer and bocce ball (a favorite during family get-togethers) and supported many charities. He was a voracious reader.

George came to Canada, from Edinburgh, as a young man seeking adventures, and very soon after met his future wife at a badminton club he had joined. And the rest was history, as they say! Donna and George married in June of 1962 and had 3 children: Melissa Lea, Bruce Scott (Suanne) and Andrew Fraser. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Rachelle, Aidan, Kyle and Nicole. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Robb.

Once settled in Canada, he held a variety of jobs including bank teller and mailman, and eventually graduated from UBC with a bachelor degree from the Faculty of Education. He spent the remainder of his working career teaching English at Sir Charles Tupper Secondary School in Vancouver where he earned the respect and admiration of the students, many of whom kept in touch over the years.

The family would like to thank the care team at Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre, who provided amazing and compassionate care.

Rest in peace, Dad/Grandad - we will miss you more than words can say.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 15, 2023 - please email netleysnet@hotmail.com for details.
