I just learned this morning that Richard had died.  He was a kind and loving brother to my husband Bob.  I will never forget that he and Leonard came from Oklahoma to see Bob just after his first chemo and just days before he died—when it mattered.  They laughed that weekend and reminisced about their parents, their childhood and coin collecting.

Even after Bob died, Richard would call episodically.  Often he would offer some tidbit from the past—but he always had some optimistic story about his children and grandchildren who he dearly loved.  Our last conversation centered on chocolate chip cookies.  He wanted to know any secrets to his mother’s recipe—which I happily divulged.  Bob was as enthusiastic about them as Richard.

I have so many memories of Julia, Johnny, Bob and Richard—too many for this space.  I am so happy that his family has the comfort of knowing that he had faith that when the day of his death arrived he would rejoin those he had loved on earth and finally have the full blessing of God’s love as he joined the holy chorus.

May the good memory of his life give you comfort.
