George's obituary

George Lewis Harmon, age 58, passed away on January 3rd, 2025. George fought a hard battle with cancer and passed away at home surrounded by family and those that he loved. He was born to Jimmie and Betty Harmon on December 19, 1966 in Greensborough, NC.

George met the love of his life, Deborah, Father's day weekend of 1986 in Arizona. They explored the United States as young adults until they settled in Salt Lake County, UT where they built their loving family and raised their 3 beautiful children.

George and Deborah moved to Arizona in 2017, where they continued their life peacefully exploring nature and connecting with the community. While in Arizona, George loved making new friends, helping with gardening, bird watching, critter keeping, off-roading, shooting, and of course gambling. He spent his time enveloped in the comfort of his family, always surrounded by love and support, even in his very last moments.

From teaching you to fix your car, to remodeling your house or just talking shit until you get the job done, George was an honest community man. He was not afraid to say it how it is, and was always willing to help where he could. He was known to his community as friend, and to his loved ones as dad, brother, papa, or husband. George was very generous with his time, knowledge, and energy. He constantly went out of his way to support those in need, whether it be friend or foe.

George loved exploring his interests with his children and grandchildren, guiding them through activities like fishing, working on cars, motorcycling, exploring nature, off-roading, and shooting. He was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything. He was famous for being one of the most intelligent people around. George would light up a room every time he walked in, always cracking jokes and giving the kindest smiles. He was the life of the party, socializing with everyone, always.

George is survived by his wife (Deborah), children (George (Kelsey), Peggy (Mike), Melissa), adopted son (Steve), grandchildren (Talya, Wes, Lily, Linc, Addi, Savanna, and Ant), his siblings (Sandy (James), Carl, Jimmie (Tina), Joey, Jimmie (Cindy), Ace (Jenn)), and many nieces and nephews. He has now joined the afterlife with his parents (Jimmie and Betty) and brothers (Randy and David).
