It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of George Gottlieb, a beloved father, scholar, and avid fisherman, on September 26, 2023. George was born on April 14, 1970, and his accomplishments and memory will live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.

George was predeceased by his dear parents, Franz and Lauren Gottlieb, and his loving wife, Helen Gottlieb (White). His spirit continues to live on in his daughters, Jenny Thompson, Lauren Gottlieb, and Amanda Hitchens. Each of them holding dear the unconditional love, wisdom, and guidance that their father provided.

A proud graduate of the University of Chicago, George earned his Ph.D. in engineering in 1994. His extensive knowledge and passion for his field drove him through his gratifying career, leaving a noteworthy impact on his peers and the industry.

Aside from his professional pursuits, George had a great love for the outdoors, particularly fishing. His daughters fondly remember the bonding moments shared on quiet lakes, with their father's stories as their best catch of the day. George Gottlieb also championed the simple pleasures in life, a reuben sandwich being one of his favorite dishes to enjoy on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

George Gottlieb's legacy of love, dedication, and enduring strength will continue to inspire his daughters and all who knew him. While we mourn his loss, we spot the silver lining in the joy and wisdom he imparted, which will forever remain part of our memories.
