George's obituary

George David, 75, peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at South Shore University Hospital in Bayshore, NY, surrounded by love and care, with his ex-wife, Yolette present. Born on February 18, 1949, in Jacmel, Haiti, George was the beloved son of Ananie Laroche David and Gérard David.

George was a man of extraordinary taste and appreciation for beauty. Known for his impeccable style, he often wore elegant suits paired with his favorite cologne, leaving an impression wherever he went. His passion for fashion began in his youth, where he dreamed of becoming a designer and created stunning garments. His perfect smile, often compared to a dentist’s model, radiated warmth and charm. He was a man with extraordinary handwriting and loved numbers. His vocation in Haiti was as an accountant which he continued when he moved to the United States.

A connoisseur of cars, George’s knowledge and enthusiasm for vehicles were unparalleled. His life was filled with adventure, including years spent living in Mexico before settling in the United States. George’s love for music was profound, reflected in his impressive record collection and sound system that could rival any DJ’s. Among his favorite style of music was Haitian Kompa, his favorite artist were Anita Baker and Fausto Papetti, whose melodies filled his home and heart.

Beyond his love of culture and beauty, George was a devoted son, brother, father, and husband. His bond with his mother, Ananie, was deeply cherished, and his connection with his sister, Marie Lourdes, transcended the physical realm, rooted in unspoken love and understanding.

George married Yolette David on December 17, 1977, and together they built a family of three children: Nadhége David, born in December 1978; Régine David, born in December 1981; and George David Jr., born in October 1984. He loved his family very much and spoke of his deep love for them until the very end. He was a proud grandfather to two grandsons, Jaiden Nathaniel David, born in May 2005, and Novayo Amari David, born in November 2007, and he adored his fur-grandchildren, Marvin and Maura who would be by his side often.

George was a kind, polite, and gentle soul, exuding quiet warmth and love. He was deeply cherished by his family, friends, and neighbors, leaving behind a legacy of love and grace.

Visitation for George will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Michael J. Grant Funeral Home, 571 Suffolk Ave, Brentwood, NY 11717, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A celebration of his life will follow at 200 Bishop McGann Drive, Central Islip, NY 11722, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

George David will be remembered as a beautiful man who lived a life full of love, adventure, and elegance. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
