George's obituary

George M. Carey Obituary

George M. Carey, 77, passed away unexpectantly on November 19, 2025, in Mokena, Illinois.

George was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 21, 1948. He graduated from high school in 1967 and began his career shortly afterward in the tool and die trade, a field in which he built a lifetime of craftsmanship and dedication.

In May of 1969, he married the love of his life. Together they welcomed their son in October of 1971. George joined ITW in 1976 as a plastic injection mold maker, a position he proudly held for more than three decades. In August of 1999, he welcomed a daughter-in-law into the family, followed by the joy of becoming a grandfather — first to his granddaughter in August of 2001, and then to his grandson in September of 2009. That same year, George retired from ITW as a Tooling Manager after a long and respected career.

George had many passions throughout his life and loved sharing them with others. His hobbies ranged from jukeboxes and penny arcade machines to cars and computers — interests he pursued with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn. In his later years, George devoted himself to caring for his wife with unwavering loyalty and quiet strength.

He is survived by his wife, his son and daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, two sisters and a brother-in-law.

In keeping with his wishes, no formal services will be held. Friends and family are invited to raise a glass of their favorite beverage in his honor.
