George's obituary

George J. Ayme passed away peacefully on 2/26/26 at the age of 83.  He is survived by his son, Chad and wife, Nicki, grandson Noah, and sister Kathy Ayme Delia and husband, Ray.  George's grandson, Elias, preceded him in death, as did his parents, Bobby Ayme, Sr. and Imelda "Mike" Ayme, along with brothers Bobby, Jr., Harold and Larry.  The Ayme "boys" were all well-known musicians in the River Parishes.  George was an exceptional drummer, best known for playing in the popular local band, The Rhythm Six.  He began performing when he was a young boy and continued well into his sixties.  He played in The Golden Band from Tiger Land at LSU, graduated from Tulane and got his Masters at USM.  In addition to music, he was passionate about teaching, mentoring and sponsoring people through the AA program, and cooking Cajun food.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home at 2806 W Airline Hwy in LaPlace on Wed. 3/18 from 9 AM - 12 Noon.
