Geoffrey “Geoff”'s obituary

Geoffrey “Geoff” Byrne, age 49, passed away on November 23 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Geoff is survived by his parents and his brothers. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Emily, who was the center of his world.

A proud graduate of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, Class of ’94, Geoff was a standout athlete and a beloved member of the Stow basketball community. He was a key part of two legendary teams that went 47–3, earned national rankings, and finished 1st in the state. During his senior year, Geoff was honored as the Ohio Player of the Year in 1994, a reflection of both his talent and dedication. He later continued his education and earned his MBA, a testament to his hard work and ambition.

Geoff was a wonderful cook, known for his incredible garlic bread, his signature mustard sauce, and the meals he made to bring people together. He also simply loved pizza, and he was especially upset when Vincenzo’s Pizza closed in 2022, a place that had long been one of his favorites.

He had a wide range of interests that reflected his curious and thoughtful nature. Geoff was an avid reader, loved playing backgammon and Golden Tee, and had a deep appreciation for music. Some of his favorite bands were Oasis, Coldplay, and Foo Fighters, music that always meant something to him. He was also a passionate fan of Philadelphia sports, proudly supporting the teams and the city that held a special place in his heart.

Geoff cherished simple, genuine moments — good conversations, time with the people who understood him, and the comfort of familiar places.

He was deeply loved, and always will be.
