There's so much to say and so many laughing moments to remember--

no words can ever cover it--Thank you for so many good times.

Jeannie--Wife  of  "Dancer" Jim   Geno's long time SF Bay Area friend/brother

I met Gene ( at that time ) when I worked at the KOMEunity switchboard in San Jose. He was lighting in a bottle. Just saw his passing. Not Fair....Thanks for the memories.

I was an intern for a short time at the station. I met Geno and developed a crush on him right away. One day, I was just hanging out, he asked me to do an errand. So, yes! He sent me for a huge hamburger at Burger King, and to go to his bank and withdraw money! I could have skipped town, but I didn’t. He had given me the number of the hotline so if there was any trouble at the bank, they could reach him. Basically, the teller was skeptical of me and called him. Problem solved. I was a new kid in my twenties there, and I was happy I could help him. Geno was nice, and always complimented me on my outfits. I’m sorry to not having him here with all of his friends.

So very sorry to hear of Geno's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him at KFI....very sweet man. Rest well Geno.

My condolences to Geno's family and friends.  I was lucky enough to be able to work his show on the switchboard on Monday afternoons. We got to know each other a little bit during my time there. It was great. He knew of my love for Stevie Ray Vaughn and a little band called The Stabilizers. I got to meet Joe Walsh when he was on the show. I really admired Geno very much. I was a little jealous when Geno and BC got those cool bomber jackets when they got to drive the new Mustang back then, and when he got his new BMW 325, but it was cool. I wasn't there long enough,  but I did treasure my time there. Godspeed, Geno. Say hi to Al Ramirez, Jimmy, and Rick the Bass Player.  I was glad I was able to reconnect with you the last few years.

Bang the Drum, Dude.

Charlie

Geno called me out of the blue on February 23. Hadn’t talked to him in almost a decade. He sounded so happy with where he was in life…his bicycle buddies and his cat. He talked about Dusty and how much he loved her and missed her.

But he sounded like Geno…crazy, happy, a little self absorbed but I was used to it…he wanted me to come visit him when the summer weather arrived.

I guess we’ll have to find a different place to hook up down the road.

A big part of my life.

Love you Geno

I worked with Geno while he was hosting Powercuts. He would come into my office & we’d gab about everything. He always made me laugh my ass off. But he had a sweet way of giving me advice about life. A very funny, kind & loving man. I will miss him very much.
I met Geno in my first radio news job at KMEL (I was Randi Allison then). He was such a delight and obviously a huge star on his way. When radio brought both of us to LA, we were in touch just a bit... until years later when we found ourselves both adopting cats around the same time. Some people love their pets... and other people LOOOOVVVVE their pets.  Geno and I are the latter.  He will be sorely missed.
Deepest condolences to your family...I'm sure you're watching over BudBud!
What a Life! I never met him but, like his listeners, felt as if I knew him. Edgy, irreverent, fun but that warmth always came through on the air. An honest & lovely tribute of one of my favorite radio guys. I can still hear that voice in my head. RIP Geno
Well written.  Many thanks for sharing. Sending Gene the best in his new “gig in the sky”.  🙏 The Beck Family
Like only the very best DJs – Geno made his audience feel like his friends. Thanks for all the “funnies” and for teaching me how and why to always bang the drum.

Thank you for the laughter and fun working together at KLOS!

Know that you’re loved Geno!

Geno was one of a kind. A friend and former colleague at KLOS. I miss him dearly.

Oh Gene…. I already miss you so much. I thought back to September 23, 1984, the day this young 24-year-old girl from New Jersey landed in LA and needed a gig, and Gino was a very close friend of my big brother. My brother called Geno and said, “My little sister just moved here and needs a gig.”  Geno said lemme see what I can do. He immediately called Tommy and Luanne Nast at Album Network asking if they needed anyone. They said to have me come in. Day two in California, I go to meet with them and they hired me on the spot where I stayed for nearly 24 years. It was the job of a lifetime, and I have no one else to thank but Geno for hooking me up with the greatest music company that ever was. Geno was my dear friend. I Love you, Big Bro. You are already so missed…

I’m a second generation radio guy. I still have a cassette tape of Geno from the night John Lennon died. He was working the evening shift and came out of a syndicated documentary about Jim Morrison when he awkwardly switched over to the AP News feed. You could tell he was upset. That was my first memory of finding out that a legend had died.
