Gay Evans, age 72, of Nacogdoches passed away from this life on March 5, 2023. She born September 30, 1950 in Center, Texas.

She is survived by her loving husband Burl Evans Sr., brother Billy Richards, son Toby Brittain/wife Seranda Brittain, son Kevin Brittain/wife Sobe Brittain, son Jefferson Evans/wife Mary Evans, daughter Becky "Ali” Canyon, son Larry Evans/wife Jennifer Evans, daughter Debra Dietz/husband Ron Dietz. She had 17 grandchildren, Lauren McComber, Alden Brittain, Mason Brittain, Chandler Brittain, Destin Brittain, Kolten Brittain, Erika Herrera, Jefferson Evans Jr., Jana Childers, Jessica Ingham, Rushton Graves, Ashton Graves, Megan Evans Tiscareno, MacKenzie Evans, Delaney Evans Valdez, Laremy Evans, and Emilie Dietz. Gay also had 17 great grandchildren.

Gay is proceeded in death by her mother Georgia Holcomb, step father Charlie Holcomb, father Billy Richards, son Burl Evans Jr., son Garry Evans, and grandchild Breleigh Ratliff.

Gay grew up in Shelbyville where she attended Shelbyville High school. Gay was a hair dresser and retail store manager for many years. She lived in Nacogdoches where she enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening, cooking, and most of all she loved spending time with her husband and family. She was a member of Eastside United Pentecostal Church where she loved to worship God. She was a pure and kind soul; if you ever met her you loved her. Our family is grateful to know that Gay is finally at peace and walking the streets of gold.

A visitation for Gay will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North St, Nacogdoches, Texas 75965. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Eastside United Pentecostal Church, 3801 Center Rd., Nacogdoches, TX.

Pallbearers include Gay Evans 9 grandsons.

Gay will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center, Texas
