Gautam held the tempo for our Instru class at IIT KGP - always positive and encouraging the rest of the gang. He was missed at our reunion and will be sorely missed by all of KGPites.

As many have noted, Gautam was a multi-talented person: good in academics, dramatics, music, comedy; an all-around good person and great company. Quick-witted and ever ready with puns that would give one a nice chuckle, that was Gautam’s forte. From our KGP days, I have admired your tempo and zest for life!

My condolences to Gautam's family. He will be missed!

Gautia as he was fondly called in campus  was one of the brightest quick wits in campus. Had a repartee for any situation, showing an intelligence and aptitude for creativity in arts and language par excellence.

We lost contact post campus till we renewed it a few years back. The last conversation we had should how proud he was of Riya and how she had evolved to become much more than he had hoped. How she went to campus in UBC and words of advice he had for my son who also went there.

Everytime I try to picture him, his infectious smile appears first. Am sure he is making everyone laugh their hearts out wherever he is. Loved your posts and blogs. Will miss reading those to my kids.

You made the world a better place. You will be missed. Om Shanti.

My heartfelt condolences. Gautam was a humble and good hearted friend who will be missed sorely. I relished his editorial posts on diverse topics in the media. He was a man of many talents. May his soul rest in peace.
Gautam was always the energetic, lively and enthusiastic character from school days.  We went different paths in pursuit of education reconnected with our first jobs, went different ways again in our pursuit of our careers and connected back in 2013… He hadn’t lost his ways a wee bit. Always will be remembered for his enthusiasm. Left us too early… Om Shanti!

We will always miss you Gautam. Was going through all the pictures today and yet again realised what fun time we all had.  When Sanjay and I joined Roundtable, which was a big part of your life then, we had an instant connect with Alpana and you.  Though once you moved to US, we could not meet, but will always cherish the memories we have created together, your fun spirit, your love for singing and your PJs. Only few could match my level, and you were one of them.  Stay blessed, where ever you are.

Gautam.... Even thinking about you brings back so many memories.. rather it brings our childhood back. So many good times shared in Wagle building.. the not so gentle fights we had.. the competitions about who can gulp more "puries" and "mastanis".. the shared agony over the Chetan Sharma six.. discovering the 90s music together... roaming around Mumbai with no particular destination and the list  goes on. You have left a big void in our lives, but you lived a bright life that inspires us to go on.

Om Shanti!

Gautam dada,

Our clever, brave, humble, kind and fun cousin was taken away too soon. You will be sorely missed. Your love for PuLa and Marathi Sahitya was second to none. I wish we could have celebrated your half-a-century with a big bang - lots of love, dear brother, and I am sure you will make heaven a fun place.

Love,

Anu, Babi maushi and Avi kaka.

Dear Gautam Mama,

Despite not meeting you recently, I share the pain and hole in my heart due to your absence. You were a loved and respected member of this family, and I am glad I got to be a part of your life. Rest easy; you will be missed!

Love,

Aniket (nephew)

It is very sad to him see him pass away this early in life I remember the only conversation I had with him about the food in Pune on the group he was so into it, which gave me an instant feeling of him being an avid food lover. I wonder what would his word be when he would speak of this moon landing achievement by India/ISRO. May god bless him with peace.

Gautam .. My little cousin brother.. when he was small he used to dance on bachna ae haseenon song and call all girls as “danger”.

Once he took up a challenge and jumped into a deep well to win a cricket bat at a very young age.

We 4 cousins were called chandal chaukadi by our uncle and ashlil vachaspati by our grandfather. He was the leader of ashlil vachaspati gang.

Once in our childhood, by accident he dropped a huge lock on my head and was so very repentant after that.

I wish he had many more years on this earth but he probably agreed with zindagi badi honi chahiye.. lambi nahi.. jahapana

He will always be alive in our hearts. May his journey be in peace.

I was totally shocked when I heard the news on our WhatsApp group. Deep in my heart I wished the news to be wrong. Gradually with more messages, it started to sink in.

I shared the first room with Gautam at IIT Kharagpur. Used to copy the tutorials and assignments. Being a bright chap he used to be timely in finishing the assignment and then chilling. Must admit, I owe my first semester to Gautam.

I loved his jokes on fb. Some were pjs while the rest were gems (being original)

Recall him being enthusiastic in dramatics and later, songs on karaoke etc.

Buddy rest in peace wherever you are. This fate awaits everybody one day. But you marked a place for yourself in the heart of your friends and acquaintances.

Will forever cherish the memories I have with you/of you.

The news of Gautam leaving us all came as a shock. We still can't believe that he is not with us anymore. I remember Gautam as a very humble, down to earth person and  socially very active. Will really miss him a lot. Wish I would have been there with my sister and niece in this difficult time. May his wonderful soul rest in peace.

Gautam, I know you are not there.

Have fun in whereverland, like the way you had here. Keep sending your PJs to the folks in whereverland - make their day start with a smile. Keep singing in whereverland - let the folks in whereverland have their evenings end with the happiness they deserve. May be start a hockey team there? And also a drama team?

Peace, my friend. Adios.

PS: Your UFY T-shirt is still with me, and it will stay with me till I get a chance to hand it over to your family.

Myself and Gautam together all through kg to ssc in school. We shared same birthday and also surprisingly we were born in the same paranjape maternity home sadashiv peth on the same day 6th Dec. Totally shocking for me and extremely in grief due to the loss.May god give strength to all the family members....Ajay Joshi
Though I never had the privilege of meeting Gautam in person, their presence and influence in our circle was deeply felt and cherished. My heart goes out to his family in this difficult time. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Warm regards,

Gautam was my department and branch mate at Kgp and I fondly called him Naik. I remember him to be extremely energetic and dynamic person. He demonstrated this in dramatics and various cultural activities in college.

We have been in touch over a few whattsapp group and was amazed to see how well he has matured with clear thought process and distinct opinions. He also showed his humorous side with his pj's :)

His demise came as a shocking news. Naik will be remembered and missed dearly. I have lost a good friend from my college days. I wish him peace and family the strength to go through this difficult times.
