Gary's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Shore on December 6, 2024. Born on January 29, 1958, Gary lived a fulfilling and loving life, touching the lives of many with his happy, thoughtful, and welcoming personality.
Being described as a bit of a slow poke, Gary had a deep appreciation for life and took pleasure in every moment. He had a special affinity for Mexican food, enjoyed sipping on Diet Mountain Dew, Pacifico, and Kettle One Vodka, and found comfort in the music of AC/DC, KISS, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. A true homebody at heart, Gary loved watching Survivor, rooting for his favorite sports teams including NC State and the Panthers, and spending his leisure time playing Cards Against Humanity with his family.
His life was far from all play though. He gained his Masters degree in Textile Science at North Carolina State University in 1983 and was immensely proud of this achievement. However, his greatest joys in life included marrying the love of his life, Rebecca, in 1984 and becoming a father to their son, Logan, in 2002. He was a dedicated family man who loved golfing with Logan and spending time with his family. Gary always stressed the importance of being confident in oneself and what one is doing.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Shore, his son, Logan Shore, his brother, Brian Shore, his nephew, Stephen Shore, his nephew, Lee Shore and his wife Miranda and kids Alexis and Hudson, his niece, Rachel Hoogendorn and her husband Hunter and son Oakley, his sister-in-law, Barbara Shore, his sister-in-law, Phyllis Wood, and his niece, Stephanie Wood. He is predeceased by his mother, Shirley Shore, his father, Pete Shore, his brother, Timothy Shore, his uncle, Roy Fish, his mother-in-law, Kathleen Wood, and his brother in law A.E (Buddy) Wood.
He loved to relax at the beach and was frequently seen wearing his favorite color, red with his “flops and socks”. He had a regular exercise routine that included going to the gym with his wife Bec. Those who knew him will remember Gary as a pillar of strength, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. His life was a testament to his guiding principle - confidence in one’s self. He will be deeply missed.
