Gary's obituary
Gary Dean Rodriguez died Jan. 13 comfortably in his home in downtown Las Vegas, where he had become a fixture and a friend at many establishments.
But none more than Atomic Liquors and Huntridge Tavern. Tourists to the area who were lucky enough to have a conversation with him knew him as a guide and authority, and when they would re-visit, they would ask for him specifically.
Downtowners who were lucky enough to love him, knew him as a volunteer, a hard worker, a security guard and, above all, a family member.
He spent many years in New York and Florida, among other places, where he lived throughout his life and after his service in the United States Navy. That duty called him to serve on nuclear attack submarines outside of Russia and the Arctic. But he always called DTLV home.
Gary, born Nov. 12, 1943, is survived by the thousands of lives he touched in Las Vegas and elsewhere.
