Gary's obituary

Gary Allen Metternich, born on March 26, 1938, in Medford, Oregon, passed away on August 6, 2024, at 86. 

He was a loving father, a proud Marine Corps veteran and lifetime member of VFW Post #4108, a successful CPA, an avid mountain climber with over 220 summits, a compassionate Samaritan, the author of "Breathing Pure Air: True Climbing Stories," a cherished friend and lover of Jesus.

He exemplified the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity, and one of his favorite quotes is "Semper Fidelis—Always Faithful."

In death, he was preceded by his daughter Teresa. He is survived by his companion Gale Blanchard, children Mark, Gregg, and Aaron, and grandchildren Jessica, Abrianna, Josh, Mercedes, André, Gibson, Connor, and Russell.

Two memorial services will be held: The first memorial with military honors will be held September 24, 2024,  1 PM at VFW Post #4108 491 SW Veterans Way Redmond, OR 97756. The second memorial will be held October 5, 2024, at 5 PM at Good Samaritan Ministries 7929 SW Cirrus Dr. #23 Beaverton, OR 97008.
