Gary's obituary

Gary Lee Marshall, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2nd, 2024.

Gary was born on September 13th, 1938, to Kenneth and Marie Marshall in Viola, WI. He was the oldest of three children. When Gary was young his family moved to Nampa, Idaho. He continued his education in Nampa, graduating high school in 1956.

After high school he moved to California and worked for General Motors building Chevys. In 1959, he married Carol Tuller and they had a daughter, Karolyn. They moved back to Idaho where he was a truck driver for a short time with Wills Shaw Freight Lines. Not long after, Gary decided to pursue his own business and opened a tire shop.  From there he became owner and operator of Boise Mazda Dealership in Boise, Idaho.

Later, Gary moved to Arizona where he continued his entrepreneurship owning several businesses, in different cities. Those businesses included a sports store, a commercial glass business and an auto body shop. In his later years he ventured into real estate, and became a landlord of his own rental property. Not only was Gary a good businessman, he also served his country through the Navy Reserves.

Gary's passion was cars and he built many classics. He was a big fan of the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, Boise State Football and collecting John Deere memorabilia.

As Gary was getting closer to retirement, he met Opha Brewer. Gary and Opha enjoyed traveling together, summer visits to their cabin up north, spending time with family and friends, including their beloved pup, Rascal. Gary and Opha cared deeply for each other. Their compassionate partnership would continue throughout the 20 years they had together.

Gary was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. He will be missed but his spirit will remain in our hearts.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Marie Marshall; sister, Carole Stuart; and his first wife, Carol (Tuller). He is survived by his partner Opha; daughter, Karolyn Sledzieski; grandson; two great grandchildren; brother, Kem L. Marshall and nephew, Dr. Shane Marshall. Gary is also survived by the Brewer and Hall families.

As per Gary Marshall's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
