Sherrill and family,

Gary has been one of the most instrumental person in my life;  I got a 2 for one deal with Gary ... for professional development and for fighting a good fight in the spiritual world.  He exampled: Walk uprightly in the business world, or rather walk uprightly everywhere.  I contemplate how great the loss is for your family.  I know there must be great sorrow, but with knowledge of being part of a great kingdom, not to mention that it is no less than eternal!  I was hoping to see Gary at the Fall EHC board meeting, but I got the news that he was not doing well and would not be coming.  I have been working on a remodel/renovation at EHC, a little nervous taking that on knowing it was his original and lovely creation.  But, when I last saw him he expressed the need for a next generation environment of the facility.  I wish that he could have seen it, completed almost in time for the board meeting.  One week ago, I spoke at a noon event at EHC for the project completion celebration.  Tim Middlebrook informed me of Gary's passing the day before, hence the event had a solemn yet celebratory theme.  Perhaps you know this, but it was announced at the event that the iconic 'Shout to the Lord Court' (now remodeled) is being dedicated as the Gary Larson Commons Memorial, or something like that.  There is a good contingent of folks at EHC who know first hand of Gary's direct influence, and the new generation assuredly knows of Gary, and I was blessed to know that his memory will live on there.  Thanks for posting great family photos.  The Larsons in Colorado era is part of the fabric of my (and the Smith's) life(ves).  We will miss him, and know that his departure from your presence will be grievous and a time of big transition.

You are in our thoughts and prayer,

Bruce and Lisa Smith

I will miss working on projects with him and talking about Jesus.
In response to "What did Gary love to do?"

Sending our love to all those people Uncle Gary touched during his life. He was such an influence on my life. Gary was my Dads younger brother and when I was a "little", he made a big impression on me! He spent time with me when I visited my grandparents. He had a Ford Mustang! I wanted one and a dozen years later that happened! I remember going to SLO on the campus open house weekend while he was studying architecture. One of the first things I wanted to do was be an architect like Uncle Gary. That didn't happen. I wasn't as talented as Uncle Gary but the drafting classes helped me later with my lettering when I started teaching. I remember going to a wonderful wedding when he married the love of his life, Aunt Sherrill. I remember going to Tahoe and spending time with them; they introduced me to the famous Bacchi's Inn. It was so neat to go down to their place in So Cal after Britta was born.

Every memory is a fond and special one. I will never forget the sound of his voice and the wise words he shared. Rest in Love Uncle Gary.
