Gary's obituary
Gary A. DeToro
January 8, 1963 – September 7, 2025
Gary A. DeToro, of Howell, New Jersey, passed away on September 7, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Gary spent most of his life in Howell, where he built a home filled with love, laughter, and the smell of something delicious cooking in the kitchen.
A devoted husband to Suzanne, and a loving father to his daughters, Lauren and Mackenzie, Gary’s life was centered around his family. He was a man of great heart, deep wisdom, and quick wit—always ready with a joke, a helping hand, or a story over a fresh cup of coffee.
Gary dedicated his career to working as a master tool and die maker, a craft that reflected his precision, patience, and pride in his work. Outside of work, he was happiest spending time outdoors, especially at the beach, or preparing meals and baked goods to share with those he loved. He was also a lifelong, passionate Yankees fan.
A man of the Catholic faith, Gary lived his life with integrity, kindness, and generosity. He touched the lives of many with his down-to-earth nature and was always willing to do anything for anyone.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Gary’s honor on Saturday, October 18th at 12:00 PM at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church, 130 Saint Maximilian Lane, Toms River, NJ 08757.
A repass will follow immediately after the service, and all are welcome to join the family in remembering and celebrating Gary’s life.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
