Gary and I each had Sacramento Bee paper routes. As freshman in high school, the company took us on a bus trip outing to Fisherman’s Wharf where we were suppose to hang out for the day. Oh no, Gary and I found a way to take the city buses to Candlestick Park to watch the Giants. We had a blast and made it back in time to join the group going home. RIP big guy! Bill Schauer

Gary was very kind to me, in both high school and at our reunions. I didn't seem to fit in well with many, but Gary was always there with his big smile and a hand out. Believe it or not, I thought of him often and how lucky he was to have so many wonderful friends. God Bless Gary, and his family.

When Gary and I double dated a couple of girls for our Junior Prom, we went to Aldo's for dinner. After dinner, we were quite a sight, Gary a foot taller than me, coming out of the restroom with our white dinner jackets, smoking cigars. We must have looked ridiculous but we didn't think so at the time. He was a great guy and it looks like he had a wonderful life. My best to his family.
