Gary's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Chasteen, who departed this life on April 11, 2024. Born on February 10, 1952, Gary was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, builder, and musician. His greatest accomplishments lay in the love and commitment he held for his family, the creativity displayed in their homes, and the beautiful melodies he created. His love of life and enduring spirit will be his lasting legacy.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Paula Chasteen, his loving children, Aaron (Sara) and Meredith Chasteen, his grandchildren, William and Grace Chasteen, and his sister, Susan Chasteen. He was predeceased by his parents Emmett and Mary Nell Chasteen and his brother Michael Chasteen.
A man of exceptional character, Gary lived his life with integrity, always advising those around him to “pay yourself first” and be adventurous. His personality was a delightful blend of humor and goofiness, underpinned by a strong sense of intellect and creativity.
His loss leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives, but we are comforted by the many happy memories we shared.
A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held on May 19, 2024, at12:00 PM at the Dr Edmund Babler State Park. (Memorial Tribute at 2PM). Please join us as we honor and remember a life beautifully lived.
As an expression of sympathy, the family has suggested that instead of flowers, well-wishers can support the non-profit organization "Duo Dogs".
We will forever remember Gary for his laughter, his love for his family, and his extraordinary music. His strong united family, and his love for life form his enduring legacy, providing us with much-needed solace during this difficult time.
