I am sad to see the passing of Gary. We went to Sacred Heart of Jesus Grade School & Grew up in a Great Mid-City Neighborhood. Gary would pass my house, walking home from Jesuit. He was one of the nicest boys I knew & had the Sweetest Smile. I always remember him being so Smart & Quite the Baseball Player at Jeff Davis Playground.
My Prayers & Condolences to The Bernard Family & All His Family And Friends.
RIP Gary

Gary radiated goodness and excellence in our class at Jesuit High School, 1965 to 1970. He was a quiet yet always noticeable presence, affecting the whole atmosphere, always in a positive way. I was grateful to be in part of the same corner of the world with him for a while. God bless his soul unto eternity. May his loved ones feel some of the joy of his present bliss and be consoled.
Such a great guy! Calm, self-effacing, wry sense of humor, reliable, competitive athlete for sure. We played NORD baseball together and then the teams at Jesuit of Maspero, Rando and Misuraca. Gary made the varsity early fielding as well as he batted. He was an honor student in conjunction with his athletic achievements which made Tulane's offer a scholarship a good investment. RIP.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now. Gary was a wonderful man and great father. We were blessed to have him as a brother in law and we cherish all those memories. God bless, Jackie and Lee
Gary was so kind and funny and made you feel comfortable whenever You were around him. Now hes flying high with God.
The Ryan family would like to offer our sincere condolences and prayers for the entire Bernard family. Gary was a great teammate through high school and college. He was a roommate for four years. He was a great person. He will be missed dearly. Gone too soon.
Gary was a genuine soul. He had an inner kindness, a hearty sense of humor and an easy laugh. He was loyal to his friends. He was part of our family from the get go and was loved by all the Treuting’s. He was very sensitive and really cared about those around him. I will miss him so much. I hope he and John are basking in the beatific vision and stirring up ways to bring us all closer to Christ. I suspect there is great joy and laughter in their midst.
Endless wonderful memories. You made this world a better place. Such a blessing to have been a part of your life. Uncle Gary, the inventor of everything, 😊 you will be forever remembered and forever missed. We love you dearly. It brings me peace to know that you are restored and likely cutting up in heaven. Until we meet again. All our love!! Jennifer, Justin, & Johnny. ❤️❤️❤️

When you "measure a man" the things you look at are:
was he a "good" man;
caring and doing for God;
caring and doing for family;
caring and doing for "others", esp those in need.
Gary was my classmate at Jesuit - and in all of those things he was excellent.
The world was a better place because of Gary.
Rest in peace big brother. I had a lot of fun with you, lots of great vacations, adventures, and lots of great memories. You were a great brother and a great friend. You will be sorely missed for the rest of my life
