Garrett's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Garrett Damitz, a truly loved man, who came into this world on July 6, 1941, and departed on May 9, 2025. His warm, upbeat, and loving nature touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His generous spirit and adoration for music and learning about the world around us will forever be his enduring legacy.

Garrett will be profoundly missed by his devoted wife, Shannon Damitz, his kids Treyessa Damitz-Moore, Troy Brewster, Amber Stringham, and Shannon Sword and his many grandchildren. His brother Greg Damitz also survives him. He was an exemplary father-in-law to Nelson Moore, Michael Sword, and Stephanie Stringham, who will forever cherish his memory. Garrett is predeceased by his parents, Marietta Crosby and Henry Damitz, and his daughter, Lynn Marie Damitz. His absence will be profoundly felt, as he leaves a void which will never be filled.

Garrett was a man of immense kindness and generosity. His interest in music and his unquenchable excitement for learning about the world around us deeply influenced those close to him.  He will be remembered whenever a song we hear resonates with his memory and every shared laughter echoes the joy of his  spirit. We see him in the fascinating world around us, reminding us of his mind full of intrigue.

A Celebration of Life for Garrett will be held on June 15, 2025 from 4:00 PM to *:00PM at McMenamins Grand Lodge. We invite all those who were touched by Garrett's life to join us in remembering and honoring his inspiring journey.

His memory will remain alive within us, his stories will continue to be told, and his love will forever be felt. Garrett Damitz will truly always be with us in the music we hear, the laughter we share, and the fascination of the world that surrounds us.
