Born in Camden, New Jersey on October 10, 1945. Early education through the Palmyra, NJ school system and later attended Cheyney State College where he was initiated into the Delta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated on March 15, 1968. With wife June, they were avid bowlers and awarded Laurel Lane's 2000 League Runner Up. Gardy served as Commissioner of the South Jersey Softball Association for 20 years.
