Garland's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Garland Long, who was born on October 3, 1937 and passed away on April 13, 2023. Garland was a loving and caring individual who touched the lives of many with his kindness, hard work, and persistence. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Garland is survived by his wife Patricia E. Long, (2) daughters Susan M. Reid & Allison L. Fowler. (4) granddaughters, Mallory B. Councell, Chelsea M Atkinson & Abby M. Morton, Jordan M. Reid and (7) great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary M. Long; his father, Edgar Long; his brother, Donald "Duck" Long; and his sister, Martha Arthur.
A Veteran of the United States Marine Corp., faithful attendee & member of Popular Springs Baptist Church, Garland also took part in activities such as the Masonic organization.
Garland had a passion for gardening, golfing, fishing & racing. He enjoyed watching TV shows such as Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Marty & McGee, and Sunday church services. He was also loyal fan of the USC Gamecocks fan.
Some of Garland's favorite past time was spent with his family. His loving and caring personality taught those around him the importance of loving one another. The legacy he leaves behind is his kindness and generosity, which will continue to inspire the people who knew him.
Garland Long was truly one of a kind, and his absence will be felt not only by his family but also by his friends and community. We will always cherish the memories of the times spent together and the lessons he shared. May he rest in peace.
A private memorial service will be held at Popular Springs Baptist Church
