Galateia's obituary

Galateia Mirabelle Dawn Finney, born on July 19, 2024, in Kingman, AZ, brought immeasurable joy and love to her family from the moment she entered this world. Her life was a precious gift that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving father David Finney and devoted mother Christina Rodriguez. Galateia was also cherished by her brothers Atreyu, Archer, Takoda and Luke. She may have only been with us for a short time, but the impact she made on their lives will be everlasting.

Galateia's presence illuminated the NICU. Her sweet nature and gentle spirit captured the hearts of everyone around her. Despite facing medical complexities from birth, she displayed unwavering bravery and strength that inspired those who were fortunate enough to know her.

From watching her mobile spin above her crib to listening to music and hearing the comforting voices of her mama and daddy, Galateia found joy in life's simplest pleasures. Her resilience was nothing short of remarkable as she fought against overwhelming odds with an unyielding spirit.

The name "Galateia" holds deep significance as it means "answered prayer," symbolizing the hope and longing that surrounded her arrival into this world. She truly embodied this meaning as a beacon of light in the lives of those who adored her.

Tragically, on October 7th, 2024 at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona where she had received such tender care during difficult times – Galateia's little body could no longer sustain life. The loss of such a beloved daughter has left an indescribable void in our hearts; however we take solace knowing that she is now at peace.

In Greek mythology "Mirabelle" translates to “wonderful” or “of wondrous beauty,” which perfectly encapsulates how Galateia was perceived by all who met her - a beautiful wonder whose memory will forever live on within each person whose life she touched. A homage to her maternal grandmother.

The name Dawn is of Old English origin and means "the first appearance of light,” and is associated with the start of a new day and represents hope, freshness, and new beginnings. A tribute to her paternal side, where there are many loved Don and Dawns, particularly her paternal grandmother and aunt.

Although our time with Galateia was far too brief than any parent would wish for their child - we are grateful for every precious moment spent with our princess of calm seas - moments filled with boundless love and cherished memories that will remain etched in our souls for eternity.

Her legacy will endure through the countless lives she has touched during what felt like an entire lifetime compressed into mere months– leaving behind an unforgettable imprint upon all those blessed enough to have known such a remarkable soul.

May we find comfort knowing that though physically gone from us here today – Galateia’s spirit remains ever present among us; guiding us forward while wrapped securely within eternal love until one day when we meet again beyond these earthly shores.

Rest peacefully dear sweet child... you were wanted and deeply loved beyond measure... your absence leaves an emptiness impossible to fill... but your memory shall never fade.
