I remember Mr. Davis very well. (NPHS '81) He was an excellent educator, and a very patient man.

I remember morning Co-op Homeroom very well. We must have drove him crazy. He never showed it though, always remained calm, cool and collected. He would also be sure a person's last name was pronounced properly.

Please accept my condolences, and know that his legacy is held in the highest regard.
So sorry for your loss. Mr Davis was my English teacher in 10th grade and he gave me the love for reading fiction. He opened the class with reading the first few pages from the book Jaws and I was hooked forever. He was such a fun and kind teacher we loved going to his class!! His impact to me was for a lifetime. Thank you Mr. Davis. See you in heaven someday where all the Saints will gather !!!
Mike's mother Sally was my third grade teacher at the School in Rose Valley in 1963. We gave her many challenges including trying to disprove her assertion that water could never run uphill and there was no more useful word to spell correctly than "anti-disestablishmentarianism".

I think Mike came to visit our class wearing is naval uniform.

The next time I saw him was the first day of the dreaded transition from SRV to NPHS where in my first study hall, he saw my name was de Moll and said, "Oh, if you're anything like your sisters, you'll do very well." Ever after, he held that bar high for me.

Later that week, he became my first coach, on the 100 lb football team. He tried very hard to turn me into a quarterback over several yearson the field and in the off-season. He even tried to get me to give up skiing to avoid a broken arm that would harm my football career. But when Chris Jones came to school to start a soccer team, I jumped over to the sport I loved even more (I was too small for football anyway) and played seriously until just a few years ago. Though I stayed in touch with both Chris and Mike, his obituary is the first I knew that Mike also made the Switch to the finer sport.

But all was not lost. In my last years at NPHS, Mike took seriously my desire to write and returned my pages to flames over and over as unacceptable, insisting I was capable of much much more.

He was always calm, always encouraging, always sure that sparks within could be made to burn brightly. I remember him fondly and am saddened to know he has passed on. My wish is that he flies with his mother and in the midst of their busy duties as angels, they pause for a moment to share a laugh over what a little pain I was.
