Fred's obituary
In Loving Memory of Frederick George Wolff
May 10, 1947 – June 15, 2025
Frederick “Fred” Wolff, also known affectionately as “Bumpa Freddie” to his granddaughter passed away on June 15, 2025, in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 78.
Fred was born on May 10, 1947, in East Brunswick, New Jersey, and grew up in nearby Milltown. A 1965 graduate of East Brunswick High School, Fred went on to serve his country as Military Police while stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. After his service, he built a long and successful career as a project engineer with DuPont, working in both New Jersey and Michigan. Later in his career, he brought his talents to Focus: HOPE, a nonprofit organization in Detroit, where he continued to make a difference.
Fred is survived by his wife, Dawn (Kitter) Wolff; his daughters Penny Wolff and Devon Wolff; his son-in-law Scott Valencia; and his cherished granddaughter Presley Valencia. He also leaves behind his twin sister Alice (Wolff) Gray and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gilbert and Evelyn (Ellingham) Wolff; his first wife, Marianne (Jedwabnik) Wolff; their son, Paul Wolff; his brother, Warren Wolff; his sister-in-law Catherine (McGuire) Wolff; and Ruth (Chester) Wolff, mother of his two daughters.
Fred was a true car enthusiast—always known for having the coolest car on the block—and an avid NASCAR fan. Whether boating or fishing with friends and family, especially alongside his brother, Fred found joy in simple pleasures and shared moments. He was known for his sharp sense of humor, his readiness to lend a hand, and his light-hearted willingness to be silly if it meant making someone laugh. Friends and neighbors could often find him under a car hood or up on a roof, always ready to help.
Above all, Fred was a loving husband and exactly the kind of dad his girls needed—fun, dependable, and full of heart. He brought joy to those around him and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial details will be shared at a later date.
